How to select the right dehumidifier capacity?
Moisture extraction capacity is important — but it is NOT SUFFICIENT on its own, especially for large rooms or industrial spaces.
Proper selection must consider both: 1) Moisture removal capacity (latent load), 2) Airflow and air circulation within the room
Considering only the moisture removal capacity assumes that humid air continuously reaches the unit — which may not be true in large or poorly ventilated rooms.
Airflow and room dimensions are equally important. A dehumidifier can only remove moisture from the air that passes through it.
If airflow is limited, only the air near the unit gets dried, areas far from the unit remain humid, dead zones develop and RH becomes uneven across the space
In such cases, the humidity sensor may show acceptable RH near the unit, while other parts of the room remain above setpoint.
